Bengals Wide Out Tyler Boyd Looking for $10 Mil a Season

As Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd enters his walk-year in 2019, he is reportedly looking for at least $10 million per year on his next contract according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.

Despite missing two games, Boyd broke out with 76 catches for 1,028 yards, and seven touchdowns last season. Heading into the final year of his rookie deal, he hopes to parlay that production into a long-term extension in the same range as fellow 2016 second-rounder Sterling Shepard.

“He got four for $40 million,” Boyd said. “Hopefully, they come like that or a little bit more or around that way. I feel like my ability is worth that much.”

Unlike many other players in the league seeking new contract, Boyd has been a full participant in OTAs and says he will not be a “me-guy” during the negotiations.

Originally a second-round pick out of the University of Pittsburgh in 2016, the 24-year-old Boyd could be a key piece in Cincinnati for years to come if the Bengals are willing to pay the going rate for wideouts.

Mike Brown’s franchise has the reputation of being notoriously frugal but Brown has shown more of a willingness to pay his own homegrown players than import pricey free agents. With A.J. Green also entering the final year of his deal, the future of the Bengals’ receiver corps is in flux.
