NFL Week One Preview – Cincinnati at Baltimore

The Bengals had much success last year with their front four pressure. Those that know that the Ravens have had to make some adjustments to counter Ben Grubbs leaving to free agency. Key to this game is how the offensive line dictates protection. A healthy dose of Ray Rice will be important in order to establish the passing game. The Ravens are using a ‘hurry up’ type of offense. DT/DE Geno Atkins and company have shown to be a formidable foe in recent years.

WR Torrey Smith will look to continue his success from his rookie campaign. Along with Anquan Boldin and new receiver Jacoby Jones, Flacco has plenty of options. At this point in the season Cincinnati’s secondary is not quite up to full strength; Leon Hall and Nate Clements are back as the starters, but Adam Jones, Jason Allen and Dre Kirkpatrick (top draft pick) have barely played during the preseason. Cincinnati finished 9thin passing yards (211 yds per game) allowed in 2011.

The running game will be a question mark for the 2012 Bengals. The team did not resign Cedric Benson, instead they signed BenJarvis Green-Ellis. Bernard Scott will most likely miss this game with a hand injury. Led by Ray Lewis, the run defense was ranked second in yards allowed (92.6) in 2011.
