Bengals select Dre Kirkpatrick at No. 17

With the 17th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected … Dre Kirkpatrick, cornerback from Alabama.

Kirkpatrick, No. 2 on our ‘Little Board’ among available players, amassed 83 tackles, three interceptions and 19 passes defended in his last two years at Alabama. He can step in and fill the void opened by Jonathan Joseph’s 2011 departure (or Leon Hall’s injury) and make the cornerback situation much less bleak in Cincinnati.

I expect to see the team look offense at 21 with David DeCastro and Kendall Wright the top two players left on our board. But the team’s pledge to add to the defense could cause the team to lean that way. Follow us on Twitter (@BengalsGab) for live draft night coverage.
