Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony drug charge after a package of California-grown marijuana was shipped to his Crestview Hills townhouse in September.
Simpson, 26, admitted in Kenton Circuit Court to accepting the package and in exchange prosecutors amended the charge from one count of trafficking marijuana in excess of eight ounces to one count of prohibited acts relating to controlled substances. The penalty for each of the charges is the same – one year to five years in prison.
