Bengals Are All-Disrespected Team

Fans of teams that are out of the playoff race often look for another team to root for as the playoffs draw near, so they can remain interested while their favorite team isn’t playing. Football is obviously more entertaining when you are rooting for one of the two teams. Originally, these people latched onto the Bills and Lions – who’ve both lost 3 of their last four games -, but it’s looking like the 49ers and these Bengals are the ones who should make it to the playoffs. The Bengals, however, will lose on Sunday. I’ve put together a list of players on the team that have some underdog qualities to them.

CB Pac-Man Jones: Well, we all know about his arrests, injuries, and cuts.
LB Rey Maualuga: Scouts thought he didn’t have the skills for the NFL game, and he was the last of the three top USC LB’s taken in the 2009 NFL Draft.
WR Andrew Hawkins: He’s a former CFL receiver, a “4th and Long” reality show contestant.
WR Jerome Simpson: He is a former Division II WR who had to sit behind Houshmandzadeh and Ochocinco.
TE Donald Lee: He was cut by the Packers after their Super Bowl XLV Championship and cut by both Philadelphia and Cleveland this off-season.
QB Andy Dalton: He wasn’t recruited by major schools, but was criticized for playing easy schedules in college.
RB Cedric Benson: He was apparently the victim of racial profiling, had dedication and fumbling issues in Chicago, who cut him.
RB: Bernard Scott: He was a Division II, sixth-round draft pick.
Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden: He’s always lived in the shadow of his brother and has paid his dues in the AFL and UFL.

Honestly, the Ravens have quite a few guys who’ve had to fight hard, endure rejection and hardship and have been ignored and underrated by the media: Jarret Johnson, Terrence Cody, Terrell Suggs, Anquan Boldin, Tom Zbikowski, Haruki Nakamara, Ricky Williams, Ray Rice, and Joe Flacco.

Hit “Like” if you think these underdog Bengals – despite nine guys missing practice with injury – can win where the Ravens are undefeated this year, M&T Bank Stadium.
