Marijuana Delivered To Home Of WR Jerome Simpson

California authorities tracked a 2.5-pound shipment of marijuana from Northern California to a Crestview Hills, Kentucky home owned by Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson, CaliforniaWatch.org reports.

The package was signed for by Aleen Smith, and when investigators entered the home, they found six more pounds of marijuana. Simpson was present, as was Bengals offensive lineman Anthony Collins.

“The house was set up as a potential distribution network,” said Tommy LaNier, head of the National Marijuana Initiative. “They had it all set up to receive supplies of high-grade marijuana from Northern California, and from there, it was being distributed from that residence.”

The NMI is funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy and helps coordinate marijuana enforcement operations around the United States.

No arrests were made and the team is aware of the incident.

Simpson and Collins are part of the Bengals’ 2008 draft class, with Simpson selected with the 46th overall pick out of Coastal Carolina, while Collins played his college ball at Kansas and was taken in the fourth round, 112th overall.

Collins has started 16 of the 33 games he’s been active, while Simpson has started just six of 15 games over the last three 3+ seasons. Two of those starts have come this season, and Simpson has eight receptions for 180 yards as the No. 2 receiver opposite 2011 first-round pick A.J. Green.

Both players are earning the league minimum base salary ($600,000) in the final years of their rookie contracts.
