Jeanty Signs With Philly

Former Bengals linebacker Rashad Jeanty signed with the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday.  Terms were not immediately disclosed.

Jeanty, 27, was a former starter for the Bengals for two seasons, with his best season 2008 in which he recorded 97 tackles.  However, he was replaced in the starting line-up in 2009 with the arrival of Rey Maualuga.  Despite the demotion, Jeanty  played an integral role in the team’s 4th-ranked defense that year, and was a steady performer on special teams before breaking his fibula in the wild card loss to the Jets.

He was waived by Cincinnati in August of 2010 when he failed his physical at training camp.  There was some criticism of the Bengals from Jeanty and his representation after the move, with what some accusations of mismanagement of the injury by the team’s medical staff (a theme repeated before and after with other players).

Prior to joining the Bengals, Jeanty was a star in the Canadian Football League.
