The hellish last week we’ve seen, with Carson Palmer’s trade requests, Marvin Lewis & Chad Ochocinco trading barbs via the media, Ocho’s Twitter proclamation that ownership doesn’t care, the Bengals planning to ask Hamilton County for 43 million in improvements to PBS, and a loss by the Bengal-coached North in the Senior Bowl, was so distressing to this writer that I couldn’t scarcely accumulate the efforts to post it all (sorry).
But hope springs eternal! And thanks to ESPN, all of that misery could be placated, at least in the short term, with news via Chris Mortensen’s twitter feed that the team fired Offensive Coordinator Bob Bratkowski today. This news should be welcomed by the players (like Palmer & Cedric Benson) as well as at least 98.9% of the fan base. This could mean that Palmer may soften his trade demands, that Benson would be willing to re-sign, and that we might actually sport a well-coached, unpredictable, and even creative offensive game plan in 2011. (fingers crossed)
Things still suck overall, but at least we have finally gotten some confirmation of the supposed “change” we were promised.
More to come…
