No… no Wade Phillips/Brad Childress news out of Cincy…yet.
Instead today Bengals.com announced some minor deck chair shuffling on the Titanic:
-Antwan Odom was activated. The DE has completed his four-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance back in training camp. Odom was on a roster exemption last week, and should participate in Thursday night’s game at the Jets.
-Odom’s return comes just in time as the team has put DE Frostee Rucker on injured reserve. Rucker injured his knee last week against the Colts. His season ends with 20 tackles, one sack, and one pass defensed.
-As feared, Safety Chris Crocker has a season-ending knee injured (ACL tear) and was placed on IR as well. I hope you enjoyed the follies tape put on by the Nelson twins–Tom & Reggie–because we’ll be seeing a lot of it for the remainder of the season. Crocker was one of the few tough guys left on the defense.
-His roster spot was taken by the newly-acquired Jonathan Wade. Wade, a former third-round pick of the Rams, is a defensive back out of Tennessee who could not make the Lions roster–he was cut by Detroit back on the 10th of this month. He has 10 starts in 55 career games, with 97 tackles and 2 interceptions to his credit.
Better hope that Roy Williams and Johnathan Joseph are okay. But then, does it really matter at this point?
