The Bengals were going to turn to a rival for their kicking position this weekend, as the team wanted to sign former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed, but he said nah.
Former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed cleared waivers Wednesday and had offers from two teams, one of which was the Bengals according to his agent. Don Henderson said his client was receptive to the Bengals, but decided that it was best not to kick this weekend. “We talked with the Bengals and considered it a good opportunity. But thought it was best that we’re not going to kick this weekend,” Henderson said. “It wasn’t because of the Bengals (that we turned down the offer),” Henderson said. “We thought it would be better for Jeff to recharge and get ready for the rest of the season. We’ll start listening to offers again on Sunday or Monday.”
