Thursday Ramblings…

Here are just a few Bengal-related stories and “expert” opinions from this week:

-Despite his efforts being for a losing cause, Carson Palmer was nominated for the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award for his 412 yard, 3 TD, 0 INT performance.  Personally, this is proof that Number 9 still has the goods to be an effective QB, and lends credence to the argument that this offense can catch fire soon.  Is it just me or is Palmer more vocal than before with his diva receivers?  I tend to like that.  And if the offensive line can block a bit better with some new characters and with Jordan Shipley and Jermaine Gresham starting to get more acclimated, brighter days may lie ahead.  Some of you may disagree, and hold true to the contention that Palmer’s done.  If so, feel free to let me know. By the way, Raiders RB Darren McFadden, who I foolishly benched on my fantasy team due to his “questionable” status, actually won the award.

-Josh over at CincyJungle points out that Jordan Shipley could shatter Cris Collinsworth’s Bengal rookie receiving record.  Good luck, Ship! If this kid can keep from getting the concussions, he could be a real star.  As I mentioned previously, the no-huddle with the 3 WR set is the best bet for this offense, and Shipley is an absolute beast as the slot guy in that set.  Keep getting him the ball, Brat!

-The Bengals have gotten a 24-hour extension to sell the remaining tickets for Sunday’s game with Miami. An enthusiastic home crowd could go a long way towards helping the Bengals get a much needed win.
