Rams get Bengal-ized in T.O. Sweepstakes

More good news for those of you interested in seeing T.O. in stripes.  Per a PFT report, the other team that was seriously considering signing him, the Rams, have opted to go another direction.

The reason?  The same one that caused the Bengals to miss on so many free agents during the dark years:  The Rams knew that Owens didn’t really want to play for them, and was simply using them as leverage and a fall-back plan.

Per a league source, the Rams bailed because they knew that Owens prefers to join Chad Ochocinco and Carson Palmer in Cincinnati.  The Rams also realized they’d have to overpay in order to get him, given that they are not a contending team.

It is nice to be on the other side of that spectrum for once.

The report goes on to say that other teams have expressed some modicum of interest, but nothing serious yet.

So now it looks like T.O. can join Cincy at the offer Brown has on the table, or wait to see if injuries in camp drastically change the market for his services. To me, it looks more and more like he’ll be a Bengal come Wednesday.
