Bengals interested in Jamarcus Russell?

Chad Ochocinco has tweeted that the Bengals are planning to sign ex-Raider QB and former #1 overall pick Jamarcus Russell.

Adam Schefter has confirmed that the Bengals are one of several teams that have contacted Russell’s representation.

To this point I’ve been very pleased with the Bengals’ aggressiveness in free agency.  This one’s more of a head-scratcher.  Russell will likely be looking for a multi-million dollar deal and a chance to start.  I doubt he’ll get either from the Bengals.

Nonetheless, he would probably do better in Cincinnati than in Oakland, and he would also probably be an upgrade over J.T. O’Sullivan.

Stay tuned.

This one goes too far. Based on what we’ve seen so far, JM could not operate Cincy’s offense. JTO, at the very least, could do that.

JM is different from most of Cincy’s second-chance successes because he isn’t just a guy who has made mistakes. JM is FUNCTIONALLY FLAWED in his head. I’ve yet to see any evidence that JM sees any error in his career (it’s always someone else’s fault), which means he is without the sincere remorse that has led to Cincy’s redemptions.

    This is a bad idea.
