Scratch the ‘Scheffler to Cincy’ Speculation

Some Bengal followers including Joe Reedy of Cincinnati.com and our own Chris Dunham made the case for the Bengals trading for Denver TE Tony Scheffler.

Despite the compelling arguments presented, including Marvin Lewis’ nebulous “we could get one before the draft” comment, and Reedy’s reminder that the Bengals attempted to trade for Cowboy TE Martellus Bennett last year,  the Bengals denied any interest in the young Bronco.

The speculation can now end as Scheffler was shipped to Detroit in a three-way deal between the Lions, Eagles, and Broncos.  Details can be found here.

PFT points out that the Bengals must not have wanted Scheffler at all, since with 2 fourth round picks, the team could have easily outbid the eventual deal.

As with the Ted Ginn suggestion we made last week, the team appears to be ignoring our ‘expert’ advice.  Go figure.
