Shirley Ruptures Achilles; Likely Out For The Year

Bengals.com is reporting that OG Jason Shirley, the converted DT from Fresno State entering his third season, had surgery today and will be out a minimum of six months:

Bengals guard Jason Shirley is feared lost for the season after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a torn Achilles. The 6-5, 338-pound Shirley apparently was injured playing in a charity basketball game with a team of Bengals over the weekend

Shirley showed promise as an offensive lineman last year in preseason action, and after spending a year on the practice squad, it was thought that he might be ready to contribute as a back-up.

We here at Bengals Gab wish Jason a speedy recovery.

I hate this. I was rooting for Shirley. But does this mean Cincy’s luck is turning? Usually we lose a starter for the season…
