Gronkowski’s Pro Day Drills Run By Hayes

Arizona Tight End Rob Gronkowski had a full workout for NFL scouts today, and NFL.com’s Gil Brandt provided details here.

Gronkowski missed all of the 2009 Wildcat season with a back injury, and was not able to run at the combine.  Perceived as a player with first round talent, scouts needed to see a solid workout from Gronkowski to supplement his 2008 tape and limited work at the combine.

Per Brandt, Gronkowski had an excellent workout, with a fast 4.63 40-yard dash, a 33 1/2 inch high jump,  and a 9’11” broad jump.

What makes this newsworthy here, besides the fact that the Bengals are in desperate need of a game-changer at TE, is that Bengals TE coach Jonathan Hayes ran the drills. Hayes, arguably the star of last year’s Hard Knocks series for his loquacious coaching,  is still working with last year’s third round pick, TE Chase Coffman from Missouri.

Brandt reports that 15 teams were in attendance.

Do you think Gronkowski is worthy of the 21st pick?  Do you think he could fall to the Bengals in the second round?  Let us know by leaving a comment.
