Compensatory Picks To Be Announced Monday

The compensatory draft selections, awarded to teams that lost players during the previous offseason, will be announced Monday as part of the annual league meetings in Orlando, FL.

How many the Bengals will get is open for conjecture.  Conventional wisdom getting at least a fourth round pick, but it could be as much as a third and a fourth.  How the picks are doled out is based upon a secret formula the NFL has never shared with the public.

During the 2009 offseason, the team lost starting WR TJ Houshmandzadeh to Seattle and starting OT Stacy Andrews to Philadelphia.  In addition, back-up QB Ryan Fitzpatrick left for Buffalo, where he started 8 games.  Working against the team will be the signing of WR Laverneaus Coles.

Compensatory picks are added at the end of each round starting in round 3.  Teams are not permitted to trade compensatory selections.

The NFL Draft will be held from April 22nd – 24th.
