Bengals Reportedly Interested in Buchanon

PFT is reporting that the Bengals are one of two teams interested in recently-cut Lions DB Phillip Buchanon.

Details here.  They cited no link, so this appears to be through their sources.

Bengal fans may remember that in 2002, most team observers felt they would draft one of two players with the 10th overall pick:  either they’d go with Buchanon, considered to be an up-and-coming shut down corner (a big need at the time), or TE Jeremy Shockey who was the best TE in the draft (and another huge need–then and now).

The Bengals drafted OT Levi Jones.

Presumably the team is looking for a nickel DB to compete with David Jones and Morgan Trent.  Jones started the year injured, and Trent flashed some solid play while also giving up a few bad ones in his rookie campaign.
