Free Agency: Day One

The first day of free agency is winding down.  Some teams like the Lions and Bears have already made some major acquisitions, while other teams like the Dolphins and Panthers are shedding salaries.

The Bengals have been relatively quiet, which is customary.  The only bits of news that have come out so far have been:

  • That they’ve sent feelers out to Terrell Owens, Chris Chambers, Kevin Walter, and Antonio Bryant on the wide receiver front, with the team rumored to be one of two clubs currently pursuing Owens.

  • They are working with DT Tank Johnson’s representation to get him re-signed.

  • Rotoworld has reported the team has an interest in OG Chester Pitts, formerly of the Houston, Texans.

There have been hot rumors of potential trades for WRs Brandon Marshall and Anquan Boldin, but neither story is linked with the Bengals.

Some additional players have hit the market that may interest Cincinnati, including WR Antwan Randal-El, DB Fred Smoot, LB Joey Porter, and S Gibril Wilson.
