Coles: ‘Carson Wasn’t Comfortable With Me’

Just-released WR Lavernaues Coles had some interesting quotes for Dave Hutchinson of NJ.com.

he just told me he never felt comfortable in Cincinnati.

“I didn’t fit into the offense at all,” he said. “(Quarterback) Carson (Palmer) wasn’t comfortable with me. He likes tall receivers. He told the coaches he wasn’t comfortable throwing to me.”

Last season, Coles had 43 catches for 514 yards and five touchdowns.

“I didn’t have a great year if you just look at my stats, but I think in the situation I was in, I did a pretty good job,” he said

Hutchinson goes on to speculate that the Jets might want him back.  He also mentioned that they might have interest in TE Chris Baker as well.  Baker, a Patriot last year, is a former Jet and is on the Bengals’ radar according to rotoworld.

I’m just spit-ballin’ here, but maybe Carson lost confidence in him not because he was too short, but because he dropped every other pass thrown his way.  Kinda messed up if you ask me, especially considering Carson lobbied for the team to sign him after TJ went to Seattle.

Sounds like sour grapes to me, but I could be wrong…
