LB Johnson to get a second round tender

The Bengals official site is reporting that the team this morning will be placing a 2nd round tender on LB Brandon Johnson:

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is set to take the podium Friday morning for a question-and-answer session with the national media before meeting with the Cincinnati press corps at the NFL scouting combine. Among the offseason issues Lewis is expected to discuss is the new NFL year that begins a week from Friday with no salary cap for the first time since 1993.

The Bengals have to tender their restricted free agents by Thursday and an NFL source said Friday that WILL linebacker Brandon Johnson is going to be offered a one-year deal that would net the Bengals a second-round draft pick if they don’t match an offer. Since it is the second straight year he got the second-round designation, Johnson will get a 110 percent hike over his 2009 salary of $1.5 million.
