Chargers Kicker Pulls a Shayne Graham; Jets Advance

The Jets should name Shayne Graham and Nate Kaeding their postseason MVP’s.

For the second week in a row, the underdog Jets advanced in the AFC playoffs utilizing an unbeatable four-point plan: tough run defense, a powerful offensive running game, limiting mistakes by their rookie QB, and of course, the fourth element:

Big time chokes from the opponent’s kicker.

San Diego’s Nate Kaeding missed three field goals today allowing the Jets to pull out a hard-fought 17-14 victory.  Kaeding missed a long-shot 57 yarder to close out the first half, but also missed makeable attempts from 36 in the first quarter, and 40 yards in the fourth when the Chargers were desperate and running out of time.  This comes after Cincinnati’s Shayne Graham choked on two attempts last week from makeable range in the wildcard round.

Matt Stover, kicker for the Colts, should take note.
