Smith and the Bengals Nowhere Near Close to Getting a Deal Done

Just in case you were wondering, the Bengals still appear to be far away from getting a deal done with first-round pick Andre Smith.

With the Bengals signing a tackle for camp fodder Monday, all indications are that Smith is nowhere near a deal.

It was well known that getting Smith signed was going to be tough, but he is losing more and more time missing practice sessions with the team. The Bengals have a long history of first-round holdouts, and Smith appears to be another on that list.

There’s a logjam of the 9 remaining 1st rounders with no signings among any of them for 8 days now. Al Davis screwed it up by signing Darius Bey at #5 for far more than last years figure at that position. He must be desperate to make such a outrageous balloon payment. And, Bey has been screwing up in camp with dropsy,a common habit for track stars turned football players. So with the normal brackets blown to an extreme, Both Smith, who wants to play and Bengals that are willing to deal are locked in to a stalemate led by the agents politicising.
