Saturday News & Notes

Today the Bengals announced the signing of 6th round pick RB Bernard Scott. That makes 3 of the 11 picks now in the fold. The back out of tiny Abilene Christian was hugely productive in college, and is expected to challenge for the third running back spot on the roster with James Johnson, Kenny Watson, and DeDe Dorsey.

The Bengals also announced several cuts: TE Matt Sherry and WR Mario Urrutia, both draft picks from the 2008 draft were let go, along with two 2009 undrafted college free agents in QB Billy Farris and LS James Smith. The team needs to cut at least one more player before training camp.

Also, agent Drew Rosenhaus posted on his twitter site that CB Travis Fisher, most recently of the Lions, participated in Bengals practice today. The 29 year old DB out of Central Florida has 9 interceptions and 336 tackles in his 8 year career. This seems to signal that the Bengals are still unhappy with their corners, and are still in the market after backing off from Rod Hood, who signed with Cleveland last month.
