Though it has been widely reported that Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer won’t undergo surgery to repair an elbow problem that has limited his 2008 season to four games, it looks like a procedure involving a scalpel and some sort of anesthetic is still a possibility. On Monday, coach Marvin Lewis suggested that Palmer could ultimately decide to have surgery. “Yes, it will definitely go beyond this week,” Lewis said of the decision-making process. “If he goes through this week, then he will continue to do what he has been doing [rehabbing his elbow], and things will be fine.” There has been speculation that Palmer will need Tommy John surgery.
