Bengals Haven’t Decided on Shutting Down Palmer – Why?

It was reported by Jay Glazer over at Fox that the Bengals had finally made the decision to sit QB Carson Palmer for the rest of the season, this despite the fact he was throwing the ball and seemed to be getting better.  Well, the Bengals got wind of that news, and now say that “no official team decision has been made on Palmer’s status for the last two games.”

So would the team risk during a season in which they have won just two games throwing out their franchise QB for nothing?  Why?  This week is a very winnable game at Cleveland, and then the last week of the season they have a winnable home game vs the Chiefs.  Even with two more wins, the season is still a bust.

The team should do the right thing, tell Carson to shut it down, and start to plan and get ready for 09.  If they put him on the field at all for the next two games, it will be a crime and a disservice to the future for Palmer and the franchise.
