Palmer Out Again Sunday vs Eagles

As the Bengals come off their win over the Jags last Sunday, it’s already been determined that QB Carson Palmer will NOT play in the teams upcoming game Sunday against the Eagles. It will be the fifth straight start that Palmer misses, and he’ll be replaced yet again by Ryan Fitzpatrick, who played his best game in the backup role vs the Jags last Sunday.

Palmer first hurt the elbow during the teams 26-23 OT loss to the Giants back in week three. He was a scratch the morning of the game the next weekend vs Cleveland, but then came back vs Dallas the next week in another loss. That’s the last game he’s played in this season. On the season, he has thrown for 731 yards with three TD’s and four interceptions.

Marvin Lewis said today that Palmer will not practice with the team, but instead focus on his rehab for his injured elbow. “Same plan,” Lewis said. “Hasn’t changed. It’s where it’s been. Everything seems to be on schedule as far as everybody can tell, which they won’t know until they say, `Hey, go ahead and start throwing.’ There’s been no indication he needs surgery, other than that would be a drastic measure.”

From day one Palmer says he wants to play in 2008, but it does not look like he’s any closer to playing today then he was when he was first shut down after the Dallas game. As far as Fitzpatrick goes, in six games he has a QB rating of 66.6, and has thrown for 789 yards with four TD’s and six picks.
