Could C.J. Be Moving to South Florida?

While the Dolphins hold the first pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, could they be looking at taking that pick and trading it for a superstar wide out? Sports Illustrated’s Peter King thinks that could be the case, as he says he wouldn’t be surprised if the Fins trade the pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for the services of one Chad Johnson. The showman would be an immediate hit with the Dolphins fans, as the team starts to look ahead at a rebuilding process with Bill Parcells at the top making the moves.

Last season Johnson had another great year, pulling in 93 passes for 1,440 yards and eight touchdowns. The chemistry between he and Bengals QB Carson Palmer is there, but in 2007 there seemed to be a bit of a shift, as T.J. Houshmandzadeh took over as the #1 wide out in Cincy, catching a team record 112 passes for 1,143 yards and 12 TD’s. Even with both players combining for 215 catches, the Bengals offense stalled quite a bit, and the team went just 7-9.

Back to Miami, where Bill Parcells is now calling the shots, and may want to right away grab a player that could make a big change to the Dolphins offense. Could you imagine Derek Anderson at QB and Chad Johnson at WR, with a returning Ronnie Brown at running back? Sounds like a team that could quickly go from 1-15 and be a force in the AFC. No doubt that if there is one guy that could turn around the Dolphins, it’s Parcells, who has done it with the Giants, Patriots, Jets and Cowboys.
